Email Service Provider – This is the company you use to collect and store customer data, as well as send out your newsletter. Some common examples are Mail Chimp, ConvertKit, and (my favorite), Flodesk. See more about why I love Flodesk here!

Freebie – See lead magnet.

Free Download – See lead magnet.

Funnel – See sequence.

Ideal Client – An Ideal Client is someone who finds the perfect solution to their problems in the resources that you provide. The Ideal Client will be loyal to your company, frequently use or buy your products, and is very likely to recommend you to their friends and colleagues. Your lead magnet should be designed to attract your ideal client by offering a solution to their problem.

Lead Magnet – A lead magnet is the term for a free item that is given away in order to collect contact information. A lead magnet could be a free resource for a teacher to try in their classroom, a short video training, even a mini course or email series! Companies use lead magnets to gather leads (people they will then market to).

Nurture Sequence – A nurture sequence is an automated series of emails sent to every new lead signing up to your mailing list. Need help writing yours? Check out my blog post here for more!

Opt In – See lead magnet.

Opt In Page – A web page where your customers can “opt-in” or sign up to receive newsletters or promotional emails that you send. This page has the form where they can enter their email address to receive your lead magnet. This could be hosted with your email service provider, or embedded on a website you own.

Sequence – This refers to a series of emails, generally with a purpose in mind for your customer as they go through the series. For example, your nurture sequence welcomes new subscribers to your list. A funnel or product sequence is usually created to sell a product at the end of the series of emails.

Welcome Sequence – See nurture sequence.
