How to Share a Blog Post on Instagram

  1. Resize your Pinterest pin for Instagram – one of the easiest ways to share a blog post is to take an image you have optimized for Pinterest (generally 2:3) and tweak it so the image fits your Instagram feed (1:1). Here’s an example of that!
  2. Use a related photo – grab a stock photo that has to do with your blog post topic and use it to create your Instagram post.
  3. Create a graphic – use Canva or another editing app to create a graphic with the blog title. Check out this example!
  4. Share a quote from the blog – ideally this is a quote that will interest your audience and encourage them to go read the rest of the post on your site!
  5. Make a carousel post – Share multiple images that are all related to your blog post and direct them to read the full post on the last slide. Click here to see an example!
  6. Share a picture or video of a product or resource highlighted in the blog – if your post highlights one of your resources, use an image of that resource on your Instagram feed! Here’s an example of that!

Captioning your Post on Instagram

As always, the first line of your caption should “hook” your audience. This helps draw their attention and makes sure they read the rest of what you have to say!

For blog posts, it is very likely that your call to action is going to be directing them to the blog. Try..

Personally, I love using Tailwind for Instagram because when I schedule my posts I can automatically link the image to my link in profile with a visual link. That means when they click my profile to see more, they just click the post they were interested in and they’re taken straight there. Here’s a demo of how I do all that straight from my computer!

What if you don’t have a blog or a site yet? That doesn’t mean you can’t add value! The caption is limited to 2,200 characters, but that is quite a bit – especially when you realize you can add up to 10 images!

You might consider using your Instagram posts to create mini tutorials like this one! You can share multi step how tos, share a resource round up (all of your resources for a certain topic), and more. Get creative with the graphics you create and you may be surprised how many saves you can generate on a single post.
