Setting Up Instagram for Beginners

Are you just getting into Instagram? Instagram is a great platform to connect with your audience, but it can be overwhelming at first if you are new to Instagram. Here are some tips on setting up Instagram for beginners. Let’s look at some things to help you get all set up!

Before Your First Post

If you’re new to Instagram, there are some things you should take care of even before you start posting!

✔️ Your Instagram handle matches your other socials and business name, and it is not too close to other handles so as to be confusing. SEARCH before you create your profile!
✔️ Your display name tells people about who you are and what you do. Not there yet? You can change this a few times, but it will freeze you if you try too often and lock you into that display name for a few weeks.
✔️ Your description is clear to someone who knows NOTHING about your offering. Remember, this is a first impression and it needs to be clear!
✔️ You set up your link in profile – even before your first post! This is seriously important. Click here to learn more about why!

Time for Your First Post(s)!

Okay, you’re all set up with your handle, description, and link. Let’s talk about your posts!

✔️ Put branding in place – at least colors and fonts decided so your feed will look and feel connected
✔️ Decide on your content pillars and what kind of value you’ll be delivering to your audience
✔️ You’ve started your hashtag lists to go with those content pillars (not sure about hashtags? Check out my post here for more info!)
✔️ You start to show up CONSISTENTLY for your audience – and you stay consistent! 👏👏👏
