The two most frequently asked questions I see from new teacher authors on Instagram are, “How do I grow my followers?” and “How do I use hashtags?”. Well, guess what! You can use hashtags to grow your followers! Woohoo! Let’s look at a simple tool that can help you with that!

Today I’m partnering with Tailwind to give you a demo of their hashtag tool and how it can help you with your Instagram. It is super simple to use, so here are the steps:
- Log into your Tailwind account. (or sign up here if you don’t have one!)
- Upload a draft, or select one of their stock photos to use.
- Write your caption.
- Start typing a hashtag that is related to the post or caption.
- Select up to 30 hashtags from the suggested hashtags tool!
That’s it! However, I know I’m really a visual person, so I thought I’d share a video demo of me doing this process so you can really get a feel for what it looks like.
A few more tips for you!
Remember that Tailwind has a trial for 30 scheduled posts – not 30 days! That means you can really take your time and explore the features. Here are a few things to keep in mind while you’re playing with the hashtag tool:
- Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post. Use them!
- Your hashtags should be relevant to the post, not just competitive or big hashtags just because you’re hoping to get seen.
- You should vary your hashtags – don’t use the same list repeatedly. Tailwind’s hashtag list feature makes this very simple. Make a few hashtag lists that have to do with the types of posts you usually create and then cycle through them.
